Sharon Gartland is a Clinical Instructor and Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at University of Wisconsin-Madison. She joined the Down Syndrome Clinic interdisciplinary team at the Waisman Center three years ago, where she provides assessment, consultation and education to families as they support the daily life occupations of their child with Down syndrome.
She has a particular passion for supporting successful community inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome, autism, and other developmental disabilities. Gartland also mentors MSOT students who are interested in becoming leaders in the field of developmental disabilities. She has 30 years of experience as a pediatric occupational therapist with particular expertise in addressing feeding and other daily living skills, sensory processing, hand function and community participation.
Gartland is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California and in May 2015 will receive her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from St. Catherine University.
